Name-a-Baby.com was created to help you choose the right name for your baby. Name-a-Baby.com helps you find the perfect name for your baby by showing all the possible combinations of first-middle-last names you are considering for your child. Having a list of favorite names is a great start, but unless you put the names into every possible combination of fist-middle-last names, how will you know which is the right combination for your baby?

The Story Behind Name-a-Baby.com

When my wife and I decided we wanted to have a child, we, like many other would-be first time parents, quickly turned our attention to possible names. We bought books, looked at baby naming websites, considered the names of every person we could think of, and created our list of favorites.

But we quickly encountered a problem -- there were lots of names we liked, but we didn't know how these names (first and middle names) sounded together, looked together, and worked with our last name. So we did what we thought was the easy thing to do�we started writing down all of the possible combinations.

But this didn't last very long. It became painfully clear that there were lots of possible combinations, and writing all of these down really wasn't a lot of fun! We didn't realize how quickly the possible combinations add up - let me give you an example using small list sizes:

• 3 first names + 3 middle names = 30 possible combinations
• 4 first names + 4 middle names = 56 possible combinations
• 5 first names + 5 middle names = 90 possible combinations

Wow!

We needed some help so we turned to our first source of information and help for everything - the internet. We were sure one of the sites we looked at for baby names (and related information) would have some kind of tool that would let us input all the names we were considering and then give us all the possible combinations. We were wrong.

After searching all over the web and not finding anything to help us, we decided to build it ourselves. Soon after speaking with a programmer friend about the idea, Name-a-Baby.com was born.
